The new Page Insights on Facebook

A few months ago Facebook invited a group of page owners to trial a new version of Page Insights. Then earlier this month, the new Page Insights was rolled out to all page users.

Maybe the most useful change is the post scorecard function, in which you’re easily able to view positive and negative feedback for each individual post on your page.

Here’s a quick rundown of the main changes:


  • The ‘People Talking About This’ metric has been split into separate elements; page likes, people engaged (the number of unique people who have clicked on, liked, commented on, or shared your posts), page tags and mentions, page check-ins and other interactions.
  • The ‘Virality’ metric has been renamed ‘Engagement Rate’, and includes clicks as part of its measurement.

Content Tools

  • All metrics for each post (including likes, comments, shares and clicks, and negative interactions including hide post, hide all posts, report as spam and unlike page) are now linked to a post-specific scorecard, which allows page admins to evaluate positive and negative interactions side-by-side for each post.


  • Page Insights now allows you to see who you have reached, and who you have engaged, which can help page admins clearly identify how certain content resonates with different audiences.


  • There is now an option available to download the new Page Insights Export so page admins tracking the new metrics can update their customised reporting template.
